Love And Sacrifice

O. Henry and F. Scott Fitzgerald are two contemporary American writers. Each has written about love story which they had known or experienced. The " The gift of the Magi" by O. Henry speaks about the poor life of the young couple and the desire of buying a gift for each other; F. Scott's work "The Sensible Thing" also focuses on the love story of two young people, but they lost love at the end. Two these works, they both share similar subject and each gives us, the readers, the different emotion about love and sacrifice, joys and sorrows.

George lives in a shabby room with his property under $100 and he had to give up his dream which is from a construction engineer to become an insurance clerk at forty dollar a week. The first difference is that the difficult situation force them to have dissimilar choices. Love is a choice to do what is best for another person. If you love someone, you will choose to be patient with them or you will choose to treat them well or sacrifice what you have to make your lover happy.
