Martin Luther King once quotes, "Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity." The term "dangerous" is very loosely used in this quote. Martin Luther King uses the word's meaning to mean not so much dangerous to one's physically health but instead, dangerous to one's mental health. Not knowing or choosing to be oblivious to someone or something is ultimately the most dangerous thing one can do to others or themselves. Being ignorant pretty much means to turn a blind eye and act unaware, but being conscientiously stupid is to know what one is doing is wrong yet continue togo along with it, knowing that the action will have a negative outcome. Another example of this stupidity is also the racism in the nineteen hundreds. There is also an earlier more extreme example of this action too, the Holocaust. It is safe to say that this is a prime example of people being conscientiously stupid in their actions. As a result of those actions, a very dangerous event took place. Innocent people were beaten to death, starved, and were murdered just for what they believed in. A group of people thought it would be good to act conscientiously stupid and annihilate a whole race of people because they were told it was just the right thing to do, even if they knew what they were doing was wrong.
