Specifically, raising the minimum wage ten percent (say from seven dollars and twenty-five cents to near eight dollars) would reduce the number of people living in poverty 2.4 percent. Using this as an estimate, raising the minimum wage to ten dollars and ten cents an hour, as many democrats are proposing in 2014, would reduce the number of people living in poverty by 4.6 million. It just seems right to higher this wage.
Who would benefit from the raising of minimum wage and how?
