Minimum wage in Texas is seven dollars and twenty- five cents an hour as of right now. The last increase in July 24[th] of 2009, the minimum wage was raised by seventy cents. President Barak Obama proposed to increase the minimum wage to ten dollars and ten cents an hour. Should they higher minimum wage or should it remain the same? Some economist believe that raising the minimum wage would not only help out individuals that are getting paid the minimum but to help the economy itself. Others believe it would be a good way for companies to go out of business. Should the government raise minimum wage and if so why?

one child in poverty. This is fundamentally wrong. That goes to show that things have changed. One parent working fulltime should not be in poverty level with just one child. That is sad. Specifically, raising the minimum wage ten percent (say from seven dollars and twenty-five cents to near eight dollars) would reduce the number of people living in poverty 2.4 percent. Using this as an estimate, raising the minimum wage to ten dollars and ten cents an hour, as many democrats are proposing in 2014, would reduce the number of people living in poverty by 4.6 million. It just seems right to higher this wage.
Who would benefit from the raising of minimum wage and how? Democrat politician, Wendy Davis, believes that raising the minimum wage would cause 2.8 million people to benefit from it including 1.8 million women, nine hundred and seventy thousand parents and nearly three hundred and seventy thousand Texans over fifty five.
