A key factor that is presented in the novel Daisy Miller is the absence of parents or parental figures in a child�s life. In Daisy Millers case, her father is not present throughout the entire book because he is back in Schenectady, New York while Daisy and her family are in Europe. Also, Mrs. Miller was never around, and when she was she did not act as a parent to both Daisy and Randolph. Both children in the book tend to do whatever they please and both have no set rules. In addition, they are not disciplined nor have any kind of role model or parental figure. In the end though, Daisy finds herself on her deathbed and dies.
