the making of the film: Moore's entire family worked for GM. While Moore attempts to be objective as he creates the film, it is important that the viewer is aware of the bias inherent in the filmmaking.

He does, however, do an excellent job in providing objectivity in the film overall. Moore does a great deal of interviewing in the film and a wide selection of viewpoints presenting both sides are used. Many of the interviews are of former GM employees. Also interviewed by Moore are Tom Kay, GM spokesman; Pat Boone, former Chevrolet endorser and supporter of GM; singer Anita Bryant; Miss Michigan, Kaye Lani Rae Rafko; and various wealthy townspeople who tended to have a different perspective than the typical unemployed factory worker. - as its shareholders demand - and it does not "owe" anything to the city of Flint simply because the company was born there. This is perhaps the most valid opposing point of view in the entire film, and Moore does not directly counter this particular concept.

It is also important to note that the ideas of Tom Kay are perhaps more valid than Moore would lead viewers to believe. Despite cutting costs by eliminating factories in Flint and other areas in the late 1980s, GM lost $4.5 billion in 1991 and was forced to close even more factories. The financial loss was, at the time, the "worst annual loss for an American corporation in history" (Brown).
