The Battle Of New Orleans

The Battle of New Orleans took place on January 8th, 1815 and was the final major battle of the War 1812. American forces, commanded by Major General Andrew Jackson, defeated an invading British Army intent on seizing New Orleans and the vast territory the United States has acquired with the Louisiana Purchase. In The Battle of New Orleans their were a total of 2,459 either dead or missing. The British force had more than 5,000 veterans, a little less than one half of them died at the battle of New Orleans. The Americans had only 71 casualties while the British had 2000. However, this battle had no effect on the war.
