of the Soviet Union, had many difficulties in trying to see eye-to-eye with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. They both had very different ideas and values. One of their biggest clashes was about what to do with Germany4 and Stalin believed he had the right to take over Poland, since he had lost 20 million people from World War II. At the conference in Yalta, there was a big disagreement about struggling Germany. Roosevelt5 and Churchill wanted to rebuild Germany and make it part of the Western Allies, whereas Joseph Stalin wanted to keep Germany down, afraid that if it was able to become economically strong again, it would be able to attack the Soviet Union5.
