The use of colour imagery is used in an effective manner and enhances the text and its meaning. Firstly, the colour orange is distinctly chosen for Syvia�s coat and muffler because orange signifies brightness. As the book proceeds, pieces of Syvia�s bright coat were torn away such as the buttons, just like how the brightness of her life was slowly fading away. The colour of the six-pointed star is yellow which is the only one bright object that every Jew wears. Ironically, the Nazi�s yellow stars were the only bright colour that existed in the ghetto. 1. The meaning and effectiveness of that example is that the adults of the ghetto know what is going on but they keep secrets from their little ones. So, if someone young such as Syvia would ask a question, the adults would have to pretend saying they do not know what is going on either. Another perspective this example can be looked at is that the adults of the ghetto would ask the Nazis questions but the Nazi�s would shrug it off as well.
