During the 1950s mass culture began to dominate teenages lifestyle. The 1950s was a time for cultural change, "out wit the old and in it the new" is the modle that teens lived by in the 1950s. Their lifestyles were all about entertainment such as cars, drive-in movies, fast food restaurants, tv, raido and most of all music. Tees were able to experienced all these things because the ecomony was doing better than before.

Rock and roll was a drastic change in the "traditional" american cultures because it was something that people of the 50s weren't use to. This new music created new fashions for teens. Girls wore clothes that were revealing such as skirts up to their knees, colorful clothes and heels. Fabrics such as silk and furs were very common girls also wore prints mainly leopard prints. Boys wore dark colored suits and hats. The 1950s fashion also brought us petticoats. Rock and roll created friction between teens and their parents because the parents belived that the music was making the children disrespectful and lazy. Although the teens loved rock and roll musci their parents didn't like it, theydespised it, and thought of it as currupting their children.
