My name is Patrick Haebig and my IB � number is .................. Today I would like to talk about computer hacking. I will divide my talk into several sections. Firstly I will talk about hacking in general and then, about how you can prevent hacking.
To begin, what is computer hacking? On the whole Hacking is the unauthorised entry into a computer system. All you need is a P.C a modem, a telephone-line and some knowledge. In the last 20 years, computers made a tremendous rise in technology. Now, in the time of the Internet, being a must for nearly everyone, hackers can get into the database of banks and companies with a very common P.C without moving out of their own living-room. without wanting to destroy anything. There is definitely also a great competition under the top-hackers of the world. Hackers often gain entrance because of a lack of security. This brings me to my second point which deals with passwords.
Very often Passwords are written down on a sheet of paper and then, fixed to the computer�s screen, which is definitely not the best way to protect yourself from hacking. (A password should have a minimum of 5 characters and should definitely be a combination of letters and numbers, which makes it more difficult for hacker-programs to find out).
Avoid any obvious names or combinations of numbers. Change your password periodically. Choose your password in a way that it is easy to remember and difficult for others to guess.

Thirdly, it is very important to use a good virus software if you are connected to the internet. It is not adequate to purchase anti-virus software with a new computer, install the anti-virus software, and forget about that ...
